Four places to visit when traveling to China with children

the Ulanqab Volcano Group in Inner Mongolia

First, the Ulanqab Volcano Group in Inner Mongolia.

Not too far from Beijing, Hebei, and Shanxi, this is a very young volcanic group that was still erupting 10,000 years ago. However, due to its relatively small scale and particular "cute" appearance, it's not like the giant volcanoes like Changbai Mountain.

You can actually take your children to climb inside the volcanic crater. The area at the base of the volcano is covered with various volcanic rocks, and you can collect some to make DIY volcanic rock facial masks with your children.

Camping at the base is also a great option, as you can look up at night and see the dazzling Milky Way. It's highly recommended to bring a drone, as it's difficult to capture the grandeur of the volcano without one.

Children of Kashgar, Xinjiang

Second, Kashgar in Xinjiang.

This is the westernmost city in China. Take your children to experience the authentic folk customs of the southern Xinjiang Uyghur people. Unlike Tibet, it is at a low altitude, so you don't have to worry about your children suffering from altitude sickness.

In the suburbs of Kashgar, you can simply find a village to pick grapes for just a few yuan per kilogram, which is enough to satisfy your appetite!

Spend a leisurely day strolling through the old town of Kashgar, with its old streets and alleys, colorful wooden doors, carved balconies, and architecture... At the same time, the streets are filled with carefree and joyful Uyghur children, with whom your kids can make friends and experience a slower, peaceful atmosphere that is different from the hustle and bustle of modern city life.

Of course, the most iconic food there is the lamb skewers, which are a large serving for just 3 yuan and are incredibly fresh and delicious.

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

Third, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

Children absolutely adore giant pandas and have no resistance to them. The base is surrounded by lush bamboo forests and shrouded in mist, creating a very comfortable environment.

Upon entering, you can first visit the "Moon Nursery" located furthest away, as touring from the farthest point to the nearest is an effective way to reduce waiting in lines. After tiring from play, there is the Panda Theater where you can learn more about pandas, and you can also visit the panda's dining area to understand what else these gentle giants enjoy eating besides bamboo.

Of course, the gift shop is important too; you can't take a real panda home, but you can bring back some panda-themed gifts, which children will love.

If you're willing to stay nearby, I recommend the nearby Poly Crowne Plaza Hotel. Staying close allows you to wake up early and visit the base before the crowds, avoiding much of the queueing hassle.

Sanya Atlantis Poseidon Suite

Fourth, the Atlantis Sanya Resort Hotel

After flying to Sanya, I suggest renting a convertible sports car, which is quite affordable, and driving to the hotel will thrill the children because the journey is very beautiful.

This hotel features a massive aquarium and exciting water park attractions, all of which are completely free for guests staying at the hotel. The water park's rafting project is a favorite among children, offering both excitement and safety.

The Crab Restaurant on the underground first floor is highly recommended for its delicious taste, but even more recommended is the underwater restaurant, where you can dine alongside the fish at the bottom of the sea. It seems the children have a hard time focusing on their meals, as they are too busy watching the fish.

Of course, if you're willing, you can stay in the Poseidon Underwater Suite, which costs 100,000 RMB per night, and sleep with the fish—it's truly a dreamlike experience.
